On Sunday, July 31st, we had the honor of hosting some of our local heroes for lunch. It was our very first “Salute to Service” Sunday to say thank you to the men and women who work to serve and protect our community. Police officers, sheriff deputies, fire fighters, EMTs, paramedics— all of these folks and their families make sacrifices on a daily basis. It is their compassion, dedication, and willingness to put themselves in harm’s way that allow the rest of us to be able to live and work and play without having to worry about “what would happen if…..” We can rest easy knowing that help is just a phone call away- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!
We were privileged to have several men, women, and their families join us for worship. We also made sure that those that were on shift knew that they could drop in any time to get some food– even if that meant missing out on Charles’ sermon! The luncheon was a HUGE SUCCESS! The members of MFBC had a wonderful time loving on, talking to, and learning about our local heroes. As a matter of fact– we enjoyed it so much that these kind folks have a standing invitation to visit and fellowship with us any time! It was another great day at Millersville First Baptist!
This month we were blessed– incredibly blessed– to be visited by an amazing group of young people from Parkland Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. They spent a week hosting our Vacation Bible School and evening Backyard Bible Clubs. When they weren’t busy sharing the gospel with their peers they were hard at work fixing, cleaning, and transforming our church!
