Some times God gives us answers we’d rather not get! Some times He doesn’t answer soon enough to suit our fancy! Have you ever noticed that God seems to have a mind of His own? Imagine that! He didn’t give me what I wanted, when I wanted it! Wow! God can really be mean! Really? Maybe it isn’t that God is mean at all. Maybe, just maybe He knows something that I don’t! You think?
Now honestly, some times things work out in a way that it sure seems to us that God just isn’t paying attention, but He is. There’s some things about God that will always be true–things that will never change because He never changes. One of those things is that God can only do what is right. That’s right!! God cannot even possibly do anything but right! He absolutely can do no wrong whatsoever! Just because He doesn’t do something the way we think it ought to be done, that absolutely doesn’t mean that He did wrong! That is impossible!
The second thing that will never change about God is that He always does that which is best! God never settles! God doesn’t make deals! God never second guesses! God never has regrets in the since that we do! God’s sovereignty enables Him to operate in such a way that at times it may seem like He wished He’d done something differently that He did. Actually, God is demonstrating that even when things seem to have worked out poorly, that in actuality it’s when humanity makes the call that disaster always results. Over and over God has demonstrated that the best way is always His way! Jesus, for example, is not “a” way, but “the” Way! So, if you want life to work for you, come under the total control of the only One Who can only do what is right and always does what is best!
“What’s the catch?” you ask. Well, here’s the catch: We must actually believe that He is absolutely good and holy and righteous and that we can trust Him to always do what is right in our lives and what’s always best in our lives. That’s it! New Christians will struggle with this. They’re babes. We all have to grow and mature. We learn to walk by busting our rumps over and over! You’re gonna wobble around spiritually until you fall enough times to finally find that sweet balance in walking. Then we can learn to run! But, it’s one step at a time, one bottle of milk at a time, one piece of bread at a time.
You may be struggling with something in your life right now that is eating your lunch. Listen, don’t get upset with God. Instead, say to Him, “I don’t understand why You’re allowing this in my life! I’m really hurting! But God, I know that you always do what is right and always do what is best! So I’m trusting You with this! If this pain is what I need for what is right and what is best to happen, I gladly bear it for your glory!” That is the kind of attitude and disposition that will honor God and enable Him to bless and grow you into the man or woman He desires for you to become.
I was reminded today that we are broken and live in a world of broken and hurting people. What keeps me pumped is to always remember that my God only does what is right and only does what is best! He has this! Romans 8:28 is an awesome anchor of truth in a wild and turbulent world. Let’s read it together: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Only a sovereign God that always and only does that which is right and that which is best could ever make such a claim! Rejoice in Him today–no matter what!
